Selecting a standard denture

Standard Dentures

A standard complete denture replaces all the teeth that are missing on a single arch.  These can be made as a replacement to an existing denture, or for a patient who has already had their teeth extracted.  These dentures are economical and are fabricated using simpler methods in comparison to a Precision Denture.  We use top-quality teeth in all the dentures we provide, and these are no exception.

A Standard Denture can provide:

  • Improved retention and stability

  • Correction of vertical jaw relation (in some cases, poor vertical jaw relation can cause jaw pain and hearing loss)

  • Improved facial support & esthetics

  • Better chewing function

Precision Dentures

A precision complete denture is a higher end, customized prosthetic. It is made to suit each persons’ individual looks and requires additional measurements of your face and jaw. These procedures are incorporated to ensure a more precise function to closely mimic the movements of your jaw. Your prosthesis is handcrafted to match your age, complexion and facial features. Considerations such as the shape of your jaw line, lips, eyes, eyeglasses and hair color are noted. The teeth are set to produce a pleasing smile. High quality teeth are used in the construction of your dentures to ensure a definitive outcome of the highest quality.

Precision Denture provides excellent function, fit, comfort and appearance.  These dentures will typically last longer thanks to a high wear resistance and smoother balancing function.

Soft denture liners

Soft Liners

A soft liner is a cushion like material that is bonded to the lower denture.  These liners can be used for patients who experience chronic lower ridge sensitivity, have minimal bone support, or someone who has struggled to wear a hard lined denture in the past.  Soft liners are for full dentures (lower).

Benefits of Soft Liners

  • Increased Comfort

  • Decrease in chronic ridge irritation

Care for Soft Liners

Soft liners require home care and proper cleaners to maintain their vitality. Based on patient home care cleaning, soft liners have an average lifespan of two to four years and should be checked regularly by the denturist. As with all removable dentures, these check ups are required to ensure proper fit and oral health.

Cleaning Instructions

Even though soft liners can be of great advantage, it is important for oral hygiene to follow proper cleaning instructions that are provided by the denturist.  Due to their more porous nature, soft liners can form a plaque build up quicker than the conventional acrylic only denture.  With the use of professional strength cleaners and regimen, proper hygiene can be easily achieved.
